THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
As we venerate the glorious memory
of the most holy Virgin Mary,
grant, we pray, O Lord, through her intercession,
that we, too, may merit to receive
from the fullness of your grace.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen

Colour Run
Thank you to Michelle Francis – Chair of the ‘Friends of Holy Cross’ and the committee for the organisation of the Colour Run. Thank you to our parents who volunteered their time to ensure the students were covered in colours and water. I especially thank our garden and maintenance team for the set-up of the course as well as organising the pack up at the end. Thank you to Assistant Principal – Linley Waters for the work in ensuring the event was an enjoyable one for all.

Year 9 Transition Mass and Retreat Day
Our Year 9 students have been reflecting on their important years ahead, as they prepare for the MyLIFE pathways over the next three years. Thank you to Fr Patrick, Inter-relationships Leader – Mark Potts and Deputy-Faith, Fiona De Courcier for celebrating and organising the Mass. Thank you to our parents for your participation also. Thank you to Lisa Walton, Daniel Bateman and out staff involved with ensuring the retreat was a success and assisting the students to set goals for their future.

Give Write – Donations Requested
As part of Year 9 LIFE Week our students volunteered their time at Give Write. Give Write is a WA based charity that takes donations of new and used stationery to recycle, repackage and re-gift to kids in need in WA. At some local schools as many as 1 in 5 students start the new school year with nothing in the school bags. In Australia alone, over 140 million pens are sold annually, with the majority discarded after a single use and ending up as long-term problematic waste.
After seeing the amazing work that Give Write does for young people and engaging them in learning the Year 9 students requested that we collect items for Give Write at the end of the year when often our half-used stationery items get thrown in the bin.
So, in Reception, Paris and Trayning you will find big cardrboard bins ready for your donations.
Give Write accept new and used :
- blue, black and red pens
- Coloured pencils
- Twist up crayons
- Erasers
- Pencil cases
- Artline pens
- Unused exercise books
- Lead pencils
- Textas
- Rulers
- Sharpeners
- Glue sticks
- Highlighters
- Calculators
So, please take this opportunity to clean out your study areas at home, your pencil cases and lockers and donate these items to Give Write!

Kindy Orientation
Today we had all of our new 2023 Kindergarten students attend a session in TUI. Our parents attended an information session whilst our new students spent time playing and getting to know each other. Thank you to our parents for participating, it was almost full house! Welcome to our new families. Thank you to Assistant Principal (AP)– Aisling Forbes for the organisation and presentation of the sessions, our teachers, supporting staff members and to Sascha Saulsman, who will be the AP for TUI in 2023 whilst Aisling is on maternity leave.
Our senior students have competed their exams, so we wish them all the best as they approach a well-earned break. Our Year 10 students are all out on work experience next week and many staff members have been rostered on to visit the workplaces. I am looking forward to visiting our students as well. A huge thank you to our Vet Coordinator – Orilee Ryan, for organising this initiative. It has been a lot of work and I hope the students gain a lot from their placements.
Dear Lord
bless all our senior students.
Help them to draw on our Holy Cross College Values, and keep perspective.
Inspire them to do their best, no matter what the future holds, as God will walk beside them.
Amen
Ms Julie Hornby
