Holy Cross College is immensely proud of Amelie Ladyman, who has achieved her dream of progressing her career in dance by gaining a place at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). WAAPA boasts an impressive alumni including many famous actors, dancers, musicians and music theatre stars. Some well-known stars include Hugh Jackman, Marcus Graham, Lisa McCune, Lucy Durack, Eddie Perfect and Tim Minchin.
A graduate of the Class of 2019, Amelie achieved a solid ATAR score well above the State mean. Amelie studied ATAR Dance under the directorship and guidance of our very own dance maestro, Ms Georgina Pratt. Like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers or Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, the synergy between teacher and student enabled Amelie to refine and perfect her craft.
Amelie’s energy and resilience enabled her to juggle the demands of her study, extra-curricular commitments, school leadership role, dance practice and her teaching role at the Step-Up Dance Academy here in Ellenbrook. Amelie’s passion and talent for dance saw her lead many of the dance items for College events and in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival. Amelie has been an inspiration to many other students.
After confidently completing her audition for WAAPA, Amelie waited only a short time before finding out the good news and the potentially life changing opportunities that lie ahead.
We congratulate Amelie on her awesome achievement and look forward to seeing her star rise in the future.
