Catholic Performing Arts Festival Week Five

In a vibrant week for Holy Cross College at the Performing Arts Festival, Week 5 commenced with the Junior School Choir travelling to St Benedict’s in Applecross for the Primary Sacred Choral Section. Under the direction of Mrs Sloper and with the assistance of Maddie Trinder and Year 12 Student Stella Longton, the Choir produced a beautiful performance and it was wonderful to see several parents in attendance.

Later in the week, the Junior, Middle and Senior School Dance Troupes travelled to the Perth Convention Centre for the Creative Dance section, one of the largest sections of the Festival. There was a flurry of colour and vibrancy as the dancers rehearsed on the vast stage during the day before returning for the performance on Friday evening. It was amazing to see the variety of costumes and dance styles from the schools in attendance.

The Holy Cross College Juniors performed ‘Our Oceans’ a colourful representation of life under the sea with an important message about caring for our environment. It was wonderful to see such a relevant issue portrayed through dance and the students did a magnificent job.

It was then the Middle and Senior School Dance Troupe’s turn to grace the stage with a powerful portrayal of ‘Seasons’, a poignant look at the four seasons and how climate change is impacting our world. There was a real power in their portrayal and some stunning skill on display from our Year 7-12 dancers.

Congratulations to Miss Georgina Pratt for her incredible work choreographing these pieces and for her hard work and dedication with all our dancers. Thank you also to Miss Courtney George and Miss Hannah Sibbald for their hard work with our dance students.
