The Feast of St Oscar Romero was celebrated by the Church on Sunday 24 March – the anniversary of Romero’s death. At Holy Cross College we celebrated the life of St Oscar Romero with House liturgies on Friday. During the canonisation Mass in October last year, Pope Francis stated that ‘Archbishop Romero left the security of the world, even his own safety, in order to give his life according to the Gospel, close to the poor and to his people, with a heart drawn to Jesus and his brothers and sisters.’ St Oscar Romero is a role model for all of us in his courage and his unstinting commitment to social justice.
St Oscar Romero is our College patron saint. He is also the patron saint of Caritas. At Holy Cross College we are currently raising money for Caritas through our Project Compassion fundraising. Caritas supports long term development programmes in developing countries.
OPEN DAY

Yesterday we welcomed over 200 people to the College for Open Day. Prospective families were taken on a tour of the College by Student Leaders from Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. Many of the visitors commented on what an excellent job the student leaders did in introducing them to Holy Cross. Some, who had visited a few years ago, were surprised at the amount of development that had happened on the campus during this time. Thanks to Mrs Carolyn Jess for all her work in organising Open Day and to all staff and students who assisted. Friends of Holy Cross supplied a full day of food and conversation that were appreciated by everyone.
