COVID restrictions lifted, Cyclone Seroja, Staffing, Uniforms and College Photos

Welcome to Autumn Term. I hope the Easter break was a happy one, and that you were able to find some quality family time together. We have commenced the term with a whole school ‘Resurrection Liturgy’, as a follow on from the Stations of the Cross, reminding us that by raising from the dead, the Lord showed all who believe in him, eternal life.

Mrs Kate Hasleby’s cousin’s home. The whole family including 4 children hid under their dining table while their entire home was destroyed.

Our prayers continue to be with our students, staff, families and colleagues who have been affected by Cyclone Seroja. One of our staff members, Mrs Kate Hasleby, lived in Northampton for over 20 years, and went back to support her family and friends. There is a need for linen and children’s clothing. Any donations would be appreciated and will be collected through our College Office area. Thank you.

COVID-19

Good news! Venue capacity changes were announced on Friday 9 April and came into effect at 12.01am on Saturday 10 April 2021. Our school-based indoor and outdoor venues will now be able to move to 100% of the fixed seating capacity. This includes:

  • our amphitheatres
  • outdoor assembly areas with seating
  • Lima
  • New Norcia productions/events

Places of worship will be able to have 100% of capacity of a space being used for formal worship.

The COVID-19 food safe protocols, hand hygiene and dining facility regulations are still guided by the AHPPC guidelines. This will be reviewed over the coming weeks. The full media statement on the COVID-19 changes can be read here: https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au/Pages/McGowan/2021/04/WAs-strong-COVID-19-position-allows-for-more-positive-changes.aspx

Uniforms & College Photo Days Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 April

In keeping with our high standard of uniform expectations we appreciate the consistency between home and school.  Please ensure that dresses and skirts are knee length and that hairstyles conform to our College Policy. When only a few students disregard the rules, it has an impact upon the peers they associate with. Thank you for your support in this matter.

College Photos are being taken next week and it is important that all students present to their best grooming with particular attention to hair, jewellery, College Uniform with College Sports Polo Shirt and Track Top for Kindergarten to Year 4, College Jumper for Year 5 to Year 12 School Ties for all boys Year 5 to Year 12. The College Uniform and Grooming Policy can be viewed here : https://www.holycross.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Standards-for-Uniform-and-Grooming.pdf

Staffing

Mrs Vanja Basell has extended her leave until the end of the year. Miss Linley Waters and Miss Aisling Keating will continue in their Assistant Principal roles for 2021. Mrs Amy Yates, Ms Arianna Rosso, Miss Fiona Murray, and Miss Hannah Sibbald will continue in their roles also.

Mrs Joanne Betti has resigned from her position. Thank you to Joanne, as from all reports she was well respected, and helped so many students. I wish her the very best with her future endeavours.  Miss Louise Kane will continue on in the role of Social Worker for 2021.

We welcome back Miss Tara Gray, who will be working in the Administration area on Mondays and Tuesdays. We also welcome back, class teacher, Mrs Joanne Di Pino from leave last term.

Duty Vests

Staff members will be wearing hot pink duty vests during recess and lunch, and will be clearly visible to the students, if they are needing any support or direction. This will be extremely helpful for students to know which teachers are on duty, and who to go to for assistance if required.

I wish our Community a positive start to the term.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Ms Julie Hornby
