CPSSA Primary Interschool Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 9 May, thirty seven of our finest swimmers from years four to six, captained by Bailey Bradbrook and Paige Bolton, represented Holy Cross College at the Catholic Primary Schools Sports Association (CPSSA) Swimming carnival. In preparation for the Interschool event, our swimmers trained at Stateswim before school for the two weeks prior to the carnival. They learnt some great race strategies, including race starts and finishes, refined techniques, diving and relay changeovers from Miss Carrara and Mrs Barrett. After training, the students were bussed back to school for breakfast in the Café. The preparation paid off with some outstanding individual and team efforts on the day. Our Year four and five girls placed particularly well in their events earning the school 3rd place overall for the girls aggregate, and 4th place overall. An excellent improvement from our 7th place last year. Each student played their part in the team, from being a reserve to participating in a multitude of events. We value each of their efforts. The bus ride home was a lot quieter than the way there, with some weary students after a busy schedule of events. They were very well supported by their parents and families and the support they showed for each other by means of cheering, whilst swimming was excellent. Congratulations to our swimmers on their excellent efforts.
