Farewell Yr 12s, Spirit of the Arts and the Blessing and Official Opening of Lima

Farewell Year 12 Students

Our Year 12 students will be farewelled next week at our final assembly on Friday morning in Lima. It has been a great pleasure to meet with the students and to discuss and reflect on the Holy Cross experience as well as a vison for the future. Our Year 12 students have had a very successful year and we are truly blessed to have not had major impact upon their education due to Covid. I am looking forward to spending more time with our senior students as they prepare to graduate, and step out to embrace our changing world, as visionary young people.

Spirit of the Arts

Thank you to our staff from the Arts learning area, who have been extremely busy with the Spirit of the Arts events, including the major combined Catholic Schools concert at the RAC, acknowledging 200 years of Catholic Education nationally and 50 years for Western Australia. Carnevale has been on this week in the city. We have had many performances. Thank you to Mr Chris McRae, for assisting CEWA and organising the events.

Thank you very much to our parents for supporting these initiatives and for the time taken with the Performing Arts festival. We have achieved so much!

Blessing & Official Opening of Lima Sports Centre

The official opening of Lima takes place on Friday morning. We welcome our many guests, in particular: The Most Reverend Barry Hickey, Emeritus Archbishop of Perth.

The Honourable Ken Wyatt, Minister for Indigenous Australians, The Honourable Lorna Harper, Member for East Metropolitan, Ms Mandy Connor, Director – Teaching and Learning, Catholic Education WA, and Members of the McCormack family. We acknowledge the financial support from the Federal and State Government for both the Lima Sports Centre and the St James Wellbeing Centre. Thank you to our Deputy of Faith, Mr Ben Bull and our Business Manager, Mrs Jean Topliss, for the organisation of the day as well as other key staff members who have helped prepare and organise the event.

Wishing our HCC Community a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards

Ms Julie Hornby
