Hotel Sorrento Captures Hearts

The Cast and Crew of 2019’s ‘Hotel Sorrento’

The 2019 Senior Production of ‘Hotel Sorrento’ took to the stage last week, performed over three nights to enthusiastic audiences. The classic Australian drama proved a stark difference to anything the College has presented before and audience members were amazed at the maturity demonstrated by the young cast.

Congratulations must go to cast members John Paul Botha (Dick Bennett), Breannah Rigoli (Marge Morrissey, Alannah Reberger (Meg Moynihan), Maria Bravo Echevarria (Hilary Moynihan), Kirsten McCumstie (Pippa Moynihan), Bianca Scinto (Edwin Bates), Olivia Feszczur (Tracey Moynihan) and Alex Smilovitis (Wal Moynihan) for their fine portayals of such complex characters.

Congratulations also to the small yet dynamic crew of Natasha Whyte, Eva Ladyman, Samantha Cosmas, Lianna Derries and Amber Ellefsen for their hard work behind the scenes.

Although produced on a smaller scale this year, the amount of work put in by staff has been immense. Particular thanks must go to the core team of Mrs Anna Amatulli, Mrs Sharon Andrews, Mr Guy Jackson and Mrs Colleen Azzopardi for their incredible work organising elements of the show in preparation for performance.

Special thanks too to the support team of Mr David Williams and Mr Roger Newton for their work in Set Design and Mrs Carolyn Jess and Miss Jessica Vaini for working on Media and Photography. Thanks also to the Friends of Holy Cross for coordinating the intervals for each show and to all staff who assisted on the performance nights (Miss Georgina Pratt, Miss Kelly Bond, Miss Brianna Gray and Mrs Sherie Hope).

Hotel Sorrento proved to be a huge achievement for the College and the students and staff involved. Not only did it create an incredible bond between the tight knit cast and crew, it challenged students with complex characters, relevant themes and strong messages about identity and family values. It truly was a special experience for all involved.
