COVID Temporary Amendment to the Holy Cross College Uniform Policy

BEGINNING NEXT WEEK!
Secondary
The College has decided to allow selected Year groups to wear the College sports uniform to and from school on specific days. The reason for this is due to the number of timetabled classes accessing the College change rooms, keeping COVID-19 restrictions in place and to assist the Year 7 students transitioning into Secondary School and uniform changes. The College sports uniform can be worn on the days outlined below:
Tuesday: Year 7 students in classes 7.1, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5
Wednesday: Year 7 students in classes 7.2
Thursday: Year 10 students
Please note that the College sports uniform consists of the College sports polo, College shorts with sports socks and predominately white sneakers.
Junior and Secondary (PK-12)
To foster an increase in students’ sense of House spirit and promote wellbeing for our students through these challenging times, a decision has also been made for all students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 to wear their College House sports uniform and for staff to wear their House shirt, temporarily, every Friday. The College House sports uniform consist of the College House shirt, (not the sports polo) College shorts with sports socks and predominately white sneakers.
On occasions throughout this period, we may request students in Years 5 to 12 to wear their College academic uniform for certain events, or for receiving awards. This will be communicated to parents and students, should the need arise.
COVID-19 Considerations – Shared Food
To strengthen our health and hygiene practices at the College, families can no longer provide home-made birthday treats to Junior School classes. Although a wonderful gesture on your child’s birthday, we advise that only individually wrapped pre-purchased items will be shared with the class. Our staff are always excited and willing to celebrate these special occasions with their students. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Interhouse Swimming Carnival
Thank you to our Learning Area Leader for Health and Physical Education, Mr Liam Smith and our Sports Coordinator, Mrs Marnie Barrett for their work organising the secondary swimming carnival. The events were well planned, and the students enjoyed the day, despite the heat. I valued the participation, the respect and inclusivity demonstrated. Thank you to our parents who endured the warm weather to support the students. Congratulations to McCormack…. again!

Opening Mass
Thank you to our Deputy – Faith, for the organisiation of the College opening Mass for 2022. The Year Tens attended the Mass which was live streamed throughout the College. Thank you to Fr Bonaventure, who continues to bring so much life and joy to the Masses. He reminded us all of how fortunate we are to have what we have when so many other countries are experiences turmoil and poverty. Thank you to Drew Griffith, Jackie Holbrook all that participated – the readers, musicians, and singers. Well done!
Parish News – St Helena’s of the Holy Cross
Currently there are plans to build a Presbytery and a Parish Hall on the Church site. The works are due to commence soon. We are very supportive of our Parish developments and will work closely with Father Bonaventure to ensure the safety of our students is always a priority. We will communicate any changes to parking areas as they arise.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
