Our Year 2 students have been having a lot of fun learning about the life cycle of mealworms! At the beginning of term, a strange box arrived that said ‘Do Not Touch.’ After waiting hours to open the box, students were extremely excited to find that we had our very own set of mealworms (a few hundred to be exact).

Ever since then, students have been busy caring for the mealworms by ensuring they have enough food and by removing the dead skins from the enclosure daily. Students have also been watching the mealworms change into their pupa phase and separating them from the larvae. Students have been recording their findings by taking a photo with a polaroid camera and adding a caption. Now, they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of some beetles!
The Year 2 students have also been documenting their learning using the StopMotion app. Students used plasticine and their iPads to create short videos.
