Stations of the Cross Liturgy

God our Father,
by raising Christ your Son
you conquered the power of death
and opened for us the way to eternal life.
Let our celebration today raise us up
and renew our lives by the Spirit that is within us.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Due to Australia’s location in the Southern Hemisphere of the globe, Easter is celebrated in Autumn. In the Northern Hemisphere there is a celebration of the beginning of spring and new life at Easter time. Easter is one of the most prevalent times in the Christian calendar, where we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We all use Easter as a time to celebrate, but also take the time to reflect upon the injustices and the suffering that occurred at this time. The message of Holy Week enables us to reflect upon that journey.

Stations of the Cross Liturgy

The ‘Stations of the Cross Liturgy’ was outstanding! The Stations of the Cross are the steps that commemorate Jesus Christ’s last day on Earth. The stations focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The students enacted a mini pilgrimage as they moved from station to station. At each station, we recalled a specific event from Christ’s last day through to the Resurrection. Thank you to Deputy Faith – Ben Bull, staff members Kerri Sloper, Shelley Miller, Colleen Azzopardi, and others who ensured the success of the liturgy. The students who participated in the role playing, the choirs, the soloists and the readers were outstanding. Thank you!

Principal’s Cup

We had a lot of enjoyment in the final week with the Principal’s Cup – Netball. Thanks to the staff and students that took part. Although the staff won, the camaraderie was the highlight.  Thank you to Student Leadership Coordinator, Sarah McBride and student leadership members for the organisation of the lunch time event.

I wish all of you a holy and joyous Easter, as well as a wonderful holiday break. Students commence school on Wednesday 26 April, 2023.
