The results of the efforts of a dedicated student and staff team will be realised this Saturday as Holy Cross College branches into uncharted territory with the online premiere of our first ever virtual production ‘The Monologue Show’. The students involved have adapted effortlessly to performing digitally and we are extremely proud that we have been able to maintain this key learning and enrichment opportunity in a modified format.
The plot is all too relatable, following Reveur Academy Drama Teacher Mr Banks (written in the script to be played by the actual drama teacher) and his someone inept group of students. After months of rehearsing their monologue show, the class must switch to performing online. But these students are such a mess, the internet stage is the least of their problems. From a couple staging their real life break up to the garden-gnome thief confessing his crimes, everything that can go wrong will in this collection of hilarious tall tales.
Production week will look different this year but will be no less special with cast members and members of the College staff and Senior Leadership Team gathering together on Friday night for a red carpet premiere like nothing the school has seen before. The students will then get to experience the online premiere on Saturday night with their families as the show streams on YouTube. A link to the show will be posted to the College communication channels and sent out to the community on Thursday this week.
The stream will commence at 6:15pm on Saturday 27th June with a 15 minute countdown and the show commencing at 6:30pm. There will be a 15 minute interval which has been built into the stream and the show will conclude at approximately 8:30pm. After this, the show will be able to be viewed at leisure until 6:30pm Sunday 28th June. We encourage members of the College community to engage with the show during the live stream by commenting on the video to share your words of encouragement.
We are very excited to share this production with the College community and stay tuned for the show link coming later this week!
