Welcome to the 2020 School Year


I hope all families are in good health and spirits, having enjoyed a restful break and fully energised and recharged for an exciting new school year. As the 2020 school year commences, I am looking forward to working with all students and families.

The College is currently preparing for the commencement of the 2020 school year. To assist in your preparation parents are reminded of some key information. Please refer to the Calendar of events regularly on the College website for upcoming event dates.

START OF THE YEAR – IMPORTANT DATES

Monday 3 February 2020

The following students will commence on Monday 3 February 2020:

Pre-Kindergarten                                                                          Monday programme, only

New Year 8 – 12 students                                                       Orientation 8:40am – 3:10pm

Students are to arrive by 8.30am and assemble in the following areas:

Primary – Year 1                                                                                                  Outside Tui

Years 2-5                                                                                                       Outside Fitzroy

Year 6                                                                                                               Outside Paris

Years 7-12                                                                        Undercover Area – San Salvador

Pre-Kindergarten students should arrive at 8:50am and enter through the front Tui gates.

Note:          Middle & Senior School students attending on this day are required to wear their Summer Sports Uniform and House shirt.  Junior School students will wear their College Summer Uniform.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP WORKSHOPS

Monday 3 February 2020

Parents of all new students as well as parents of all Year 1 and Year 7 students

As previously advised a Digital Citizenship Workshop will be held on Monday 3 February for parents of all new students as well as parents of all Year 1 and Year 7 students.  This is a compulsory workshop and parent attendance is required, even if you already have a student at the College. The workshop will be presented at three different times to allow for flexibility for parents.  It will focus on Digital Citizenship, the iPad as a tool for learning and the College’s main communication tool – Parent Coneqt.  Please ensure you have returned your reply slip advising the College which workshop you will be attending. 

Parents attending the Digital Citizenship Workshop are required to bring their child’s iPad, Credit/Debit Cards and need to know their Apple ID log in information also

iPad Setup – Essential to be done prior to the Digital Citizenship workshop

Please ensure that you have attended to the set up of your child’s iPad prior to the workshop as provided in the information you received with the Orientation Pack for new students.  The setup of your child’s iPad must be completed prior to Thursday, 31 January. Please contact the ICT Staff should you require assistance. 

The College office will be closed on Thursday, 30 January between 8:00am – 1:00pm. 

COLLEGE BALL

Friday 31 January 2020

Year 12 students are required to arrive at Caversham House no later than 6:30pm.  The Ball will conclude at 11:00pm.  Students are reminded to comply with the College Standards for Uniform and Grooming and must return to school on Monday with no remaining hair or nail extensions.  Questions regarding the College Ball should be directed to Mr Matthew Smyth, McCormack House Coordinator.

STUDENT COMMENCEMENT

Tuesday 4 February 2020

Kindergarten and Year 8 – 12 students will commence on Tuesday 4 February 2020.  Kindergarten students are required to arrive no later than 8:40am and enter through the front gates near the Tui building.  Year 8 – 12 students are to arrive no later than 8:30am.  Students are required to wear their Summer Academic uniform; please refer to the College Standards for Uniform and Grooming for these requirements. Student timetables are available on Parent Coneqt, as well as Student Coneqt.

Wednesday 5 February 2020

Whole College Assembly, House Games and Morning Tea – 8:40am – 10:55am.  All students are to wear the College Summer Sports uniform with their House shirts and College Hats.

WELCOME BBQ FOR ALL FAMILIES & PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS

Wednesday 12 February 2020

The Welcome BBQ for all families will commence at 5.30pm.

Parent Information Sessions will also take place at the following times on this day:

Junior School            4:00 to 5:30pm

Middle School           5:10 to 8:30pm

More information will be provided regarding the Welcome BBQ and compulsory Parent Information Sessions at the commencement of the Summer Term.

UNIFORM

Please note it is a condition of the Enrolment Agreement, signed on accepting a place at the College, that students comply with the College Standards for Uniform and Grooming. As students return to school I make particular mention of regulations relating to skirt length (knee length), hair, make-up and jewellery; students who do not comply with this Policy will be allowed to remain at school on the first day but will not be permitted to return to school until the issue is resolved. In particular, please note the rules regarding school shoes and sports shoes. A copy of the College Standards for Uniform and Grooming policy is available on the College website.

COLLEGE FEES

Family fee statements will be posted in the first week of Summer Term.

ALLERGY RISK MINIMISATION

As a College we endeavour to create an environment in which is safe for all students. We request that students do not bring nuts or nut products to school in order to minimise risk for those students who have severe nut allergies.
