Work Place Learning

Workplace Learning is an integral part of the new My Life programme at the College. During Weeks 6 and 7 of this term the Year 11 students on the UniReady and General pathways were encouraged to independently identify and organise their own personal Work Placement. This ranged from Heavy Industry placements, Real Estate, Settlement agencies, schools, farms, Aged Care and accountancy. The students had very positive experiences, with some being offered a continuing one day a week work placement and one being offered part time paid employment.

Experiencing the world of work has provided them with the opportunity to recognise if they are on the right career path, while others tried something they didn’t think they would enjoy and were pleasantly surprised! This is always best to experience sooner rather than later.

Upon completion of the hours the students have completed logbooks and are working on Skills Journals to reflect upon their time in the Workplace. Many of them are already thinking ahead to the next block of Work Placement.
