This term in Year 4 Design Technologies we have been exploring the Design Thinking Process. Students have been learning about all five stages and have been putting them into practice in the classroom.

Last week, we read the text ‘One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia.’ We discussed the environmental problems our world is facing and acknowledged the entrepreneurship evident in the story, whereby Isatou and the women in the village began repurposing plastic bags. Students in Year 4 also attempted to repurpose plastic bags, creating straws, headwear and many other interesting things. We had lots of fun putting our design skills to the test!

Students will be applying the Design Thinking Process to a range of real world problems in the coming weeks.
