Year Seven Digital Technologies

In 2019, our Year Seven cohort have been busy experimenting with OzoBot Evo’s. OzoBot’s are small programmable robots that combine both the physical and digital world, whilst teaching children of all ages the basic fundamentals of coding.

The students have been collaborating in pairs through project based learning, where they must plan and design a game using a colour code language which is recognisable by the OzoBot. Using colour codes can program the OzoBot’s speed, direction as well as custom movements.

Year Seven student Ashley Chipamuriwo spoke about why he enjoyed using the OzoBot’s this year. “I like how you can use the OzoBot’s to try out a different way of coding, and how the robots sometimes have a mind of their own. They’re very fun,” he said.

At the end of the course, the Year Seven students have an opportunity to play each other’s games whilst conducting both peer and self-evaluations.

Well done on your brilliant use of creativity, Year Seven’s!
