This year, Holy Cross College has joined the Independent Theatre Association (ITA), a community organisation for school, youth and community theatre groups across the state. Over the weekend, the ITA held Youth Fest at Marloo Theatre, a youth theatre festival, which saw 8 youth theatre companies perform short one act scripts for a public audience and ITA adjudicators.
Holy Cross College Year 10 Drama Students represented the College for the first time in this festival, performing the absurdist script ‘A Game’, a challenging piece of contemporary theatre which explores the human need for territory and power. The students put in a very strong performance, revelling the chance to perform on such a wonderful stage in front of an appreciative audience.
The awards presentation took place on Sunday and Holy Cross was awarded three awards from the Festival. Bertie Turrell-Knight was awarded an adjudicator’s certificate for Stage Presence and Therese Topliss also received an adjudicator’s certificate for Commitment to Character.

To top off a very successful weekend, the College was awarded the Melville Theatre Encouragement Medal for the Senior Category, an incredible achievement for the staff and students involved! We look forward to being involved with Youth Fest and further ITA events in future years!
