Principal’s Blog – Mr Albert Borrello

Dear Holy Cross College Community,

As we continue through this term, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the remarkable spirit and achievements of our students, staff, and families. It is my privilege to share with you some of the wonderful moments and accomplishments that have enriched our College community in recent weeks.

Year 12 LIFE Week Retreat

Our Year 12 students have just returned from their LIFE Week Retreat, and I can honestly say it was nothing short of amazing. This annual week serves as a true rite of passage for our senior students, providing them with an opportunity for deep reflection, spiritual growth, and meaningful connection with their peers as they journey through their final year of schooling. The atmosphere throughout the week was truly wonderful, filled with laughter, contemplation, and genuine moments of faith sharing. Our students conducted themselves with such maturity and grace that they made us all incredibly proud. Watching them embrace this experience with open hearts and minds reminded me once again why Holy Cross College is such a special place.

College Combined Advisory Council Dinner

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting our College Combined Advisory Council Dinner alongside parents and staff from St Helena’s Catholic Primary School, Emmaus Catholic Primary School, and our Parish. It was a wonderful evening that truly celebrated the shared connections within our Catholic community here in Ellenbrook. These gatherings are vital in strengthening the bonds between our educational institutions and parish, ensuring that our students experience a seamless journey of faith and learning. Our partnerships with our feeder schools and Parish remain incredibly strong, and events like these reinforce our commitment to working together for the benefit of all our young people. Thanks to Mrs Whitton, whose dedicated work and attention to detail ensured the evening was an outstanding success.

Junior School and Year 7-8 Social

What an incredible afternoon and night we witnessed at our Junior School and Year 7-8 Social! The energy in the hall was electric as our students danced the night away. It was wonderful to see students from different year levels coming together, building friendships, and simply enjoying their youth. The event was a tremendous success, and the joy on our students’ faces was heartwarming. Events like these are so important in building our College community spirit, and I’m looking forward to next year’s celebration!

ACC Cross Country Team Achievement

I am thrilled to congratulate our ACC Cross Country Team on their outstanding performance and dedication. In particular, I want to recognise Year 7 student Joel Murphy, who achieved second place in his division – the best individual result ever recorded by a Holy Cross College student in this event. I extend my sincere thanks to all team members for their unwavering commitment to training and to our dedicated staff who have supported and guided them throughout their preparation.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Our thoughts and prayers are with all our students who will be participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Thursday, June 19th. This is a beautiful and sacred moment in their faith journey, and I encourage them to approach this sacrament with open hearts, ready to experience God’s infinite mercy and love. May this experience deepen their relationship with Christ and strengthen their commitment to living as faithful disciples.

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity this weekend, let us join together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we give thanks for revealing Yourself to us as Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. May we, as a community, reflect Your perfect love in our relationships with one another. Help us to grow in faith, hope, and charity, following the example of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, guide our students, families, and staff as we continue our journey together in Catholic education. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Kind regards

Albert Borrello
