A Time of Reflection and Prayer

“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”

It is with a heavy heart that we join the global Catholic community in mourning the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. His humble leadership, compassion for the marginalised, and unwavering commitment to mercy and environmental stewardship have left an indelible mark on our Church and world. As we reflect on his papacy, we are reminded of his call to be instruments of peace and builders of bridges in our daily lives.

During this time of transition for our Church, we keep the College of Cardinals in our prayers as they gather in conclave to elect a new Holy Father. May the Holy Spirit guide them with wisdom and discernment as they choose the shepherd who will lead our global Catholic family forward. We invite all members of our Holy Cross community to join in prayer during this significant moment in our Church’s history.

Welcome Back to Term 2

It is wonderful to welcome back all our students and staff as we reconnect as a community for Term 2. The holidays provided a much-needed rest, and I trust that all families had the opportunity to recharge and spend quality time together. It was wonderful to see so many of our Holy Cross families participating in Parish celebrations throughout the Easter weekend. Your presence and participation in these sacred liturgies truly strengthen the bonds between our College and Parish communities. Fr Bona truly appreciates your support!

Honouring the ANZAC Spirit

Last week, our College community joined Australians and New Zealanders around the world in commemorating ANZAC Day. This solemn occasion allows us to honour the sacrifice and service of those who have defended our freedoms and values throughout history. Schools play a vital role in ensuring that younger generations understand and appreciate the significance of this day, helping to preserve the memory of those who served and the values of courage, mateship, and resilience that the ANZAC tradition embodies. I was immensely proud of our student representatives who participated in our service and the respectful manner in which our entire community observed our College ANZAC ceremony.

“The Little Mermaid” Production Approaches!

Excitement is building across the College as we count down to opening night of our production of “The Little Mermaid”! With less than two weeks to go, our talented cast and crew are putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a spectacular show. The dedication shown by students and staff during countless hours of rehearsals has been truly impressive. Tickets are selling quickly and can be purchased online through our College website or in person at the Administration Office. We wish all our performers, musicians, dancers, and backstage crew the very best for the upcoming performances – we know you will “make a splash” and create lasting memories!

Welcoming New Staff

It is my pleasure to welcome several new staff members to our Holy Cross community this term. Miss Matilda Sergeant joins our Health & Physical Education department, bringing enthusiasm and expertise that will greatly benefit our students’ wellbeing and sporting development. Ms Julie-Anne Seaman brings a wealth of knowledge to our Humanities team. Please join me in extending a warm Holy Cross welcome to these wonderful new members of our community.

Embracing a Journey of Transformation

Term Two presents an abundance of opportunities for students to demonstrate our eight college values. In the coming weeks, we look forward to our Sacramental programs, Camino experiences, the Year 12 Retreat, end-of-semester examinations, and numerous sporting carnivals. I encourage all students to embrace our College motto of “Life to the Full” by participating wholeheartedly in these activities. These experiences beyond the classroom are often where the most profound learning and connections are formed.

As we journey through this term together, let us continue to support one another and exemplify the values that make Holy Cross College such a special place.

Warm regards,

Mr. Albert Borrello
Principal, Holy Cross College
