Celebrating Transformation and Hope at Holy Cross College
What an extraordinary evening we shared at our College Annual Celebration Evening! It was a night filled with joy, pride, and gratitude as we came together to celebrate the achievements and spirit of our community in 2025. It has been a year marked by transformation under the Jubilee Year for the Church: Pilgrims of Hope, inspired by our House Patron, Irene McCormack.
A special congratulations to all our award winners. Your dedication and excellence embody the values of Holy Cross College. A special mention goes to Zara Byrne, who received the inaugural Principal’s All-Rounder Award. Zara’s commitment across academics, service, sport, arts and leadership truly reflects the holistic education we cherish at HCC.
Thank you to our talented performers, whose creativity and energy brought the evening to life, and to the parents who joined us for canapés and drinks beforehand. Your presence and support mean so much to our community. It was a fabulous evening of connection and celebration.
Australian Catholic Youth Festival – Pilgrims of Hope
This week, we were also blessed to have seven students and two staff members attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) in Melbourne. My sincere thanks to Ms Stafford and Ms Caitlin White for accompanying and supporting our students on this incredible faith journey.
ACYF gathered thousands of young Catholics under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, offering three days of prayer, music, workshops, and vibrant community. Highlights included a commissioning Mass, inspiring testimonies, and a powerful message reminding young people: “You are created with intention. You are loved. You are needed.” The festival encouraged participants to embrace their God-given identity and return home ready to “build up the Kingdom of God” in their communities.
This experience has truly enabled our students to live out our College motto: “Have Life and Have it to the Full!” deepening their faith and strengthening their sense of belonging in the wider Church.
As we enter the final week of Term, I wish all our students the very best. Finish strong and take time to reflect on the blessings of this year.
Advent Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we prepare for Your coming, fill our hearts with hope and joy. Help us to walk in faith, share Your love, and bring light to the world. May this Advent season draw us closer to You and to one another. Amen.
Kind regards
Albert Borrello
