Prayer for the Queenship of Mary
O God, who made the Mother of your Son
to be our Mother and our Queen,
graciously grant that, sustained by her intercession,
we may attain in the heavenly Kingdom
the glory promised to your children.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Faith Life – Assumption Mass
August 15th is a Holy Day of Obligation within the Catholic Church as it is on this day that we commemorate Mary’s assumption into heaven. Our College Community gathered in Lima to acknowledge Mary, the mother of Jesus, and for the first time, our Pre-Primary students joined us for Mass proudly wearing crowns that they made in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Science Week – ‘Decoding the Universe: Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language’
Week 4 was Science Week and there were numerous activities throughout the week including Mystery Sound Challenge, Decoding Challenge, Escape Room Challenge and a Marshmallow Launcher Challenge. Thank you to our Learning Area Leader Mrs Sarah McBride and our Science Department for setting up wonderful activities for our students to test their problem-solving skills, and get creative and competitive!
Junior School Assembly
Our Junior School Assembly was our first appearance by our Kindy students who put on an energetic performance of Hardworking Bruce. The performance was an adaptation of Old McDonald Had A Farm as part of the Kindy Talk for Writing Programme. Our Kindy students learnt the Noongar names for some of our Australian animals supported by Mrs Shenika Bennell (First Nations Teaching Assistant). It was also a wonderful opportunity to recognise the efforts of our Junior School students who received Merit Certificates.
Junior School Inter-house Athletics Carnival
The Junior School Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with beautiful weather, great spirit, and students cheering one another on. Students enthusiastically participated in various events, showcasing their skills and teamwork. Congratulations to McCormack House who won the Interhouse Athletics Carnival! Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
Catholic School Improvement Plan 2026–2028
Recently our Middle and Senior School students completed a survey during HTG, which will inform our next Catholic School Improvement Plan. This week, we have started to meet with our students in focus groups to allow them to expand upon their responses in this survey and further understand their perspective.
Next week, we will be holding Parent Workshops on Thursday August 28th to shape the development of our next Catholic School Improvement Plan (CSIP) for 2026–2028. These workshops will allow the College to update families as to our progress toward the next CSIP whilst, more importantly, an opportunities for families to share their insights and help guide the future direction of our school community. Two sessions will be offered and this event will occur in the St James’ Staffroom:
- 8.40am – 9.40am
- 6pm – 7pm
