Camino Day Two 2025: A Journey of Faith, Community, and Transformation
By Albert Borrello – Principal, Holy Cross College
On Friday 29th August, Holy Cross College celebrated one of the most inspiring and joy-filled events in our College calendar – Camino Day Two 2025. This year’s pilgrimage was not only a beautiful expression of our faith and heritage, but also a record-breaking moment for our community, with the highest student participation ever in a Camino Day!
Camino is more than a walk. It is a sacred journey – a modern-day pilgrimage that echoes the footsteps of Dom Rosendo Salvado, whose mission of faith led him from Subiaco to New Norcia in 1847. As we retrace his path, we connect deeply with our Catholic heritage and the spiritual legacy that continues to shape our College.
Students from Year 5 through Year 12 embarked on tailored pilgrimages, each designed to challenge, inspire, and transform. From the City of Perth for our youngest pilgrims to the final 13km trek into New Norcia for our Year 12 students, every step was a testament to resilience, reflection, and community.
A Journey of Transformation in the Risen Christ
At Holy Cross College, our Vision calls us to live a journey of transformation in the Risen Christ, and to have life to the full. Camino 2025 was a living embodiment of this vision. As students walked through nature, prayed together, and supported one another, they encountered moments of grace, growth, and joy. It was a day where God’s presence was felt in the simple act of walking side by side.
The Pilgrim’s Prayer, recited by all, reminded us of our purpose: to honour God, build community, reflect on self, and connect with creation. These values were not just spoken; they were lived.
A Legacy That Builds Community
Camino is also a celebration of our College’s legacy. It strengthens our faith community, fosters relationships between students and staff, and continues the tradition of Catholic pilgrimage in our community.
Thank you to our dedicated staff, who guided, supported, and walked alongside our students. Your leadership and care made this day possible. To our students; thank you for embracing the spirit of Camino with such enthusiasm and reverence. You have made this year’s pilgrimage one to remember.
As we reflect on the success of Camino 2025, we are reminded that transformation is not a destination, but a journey. May the spirit of this pilgrimage continue to inspire us in our daily lives, as we walk together in faith, hope, and love.
Let us continue to seek Christ in every step we take – and may we always walk with joy, purpose, and the fullness of life.
