End of Term Message – Easter 2026
Dear Holy Cross College families,
As we bring Term 1 to a close, I thank you for the life, faith and learning that continue to flourish across our College community. Throughout this term we have been inspired by the 180 Year Anniversary of the Sisters of Mercy and the theme of Personal Best. We have invited each student and staff member to reflect on who they are called to be and how they are growing in all our LIFE pillars. This theme, which I shared at the beginning of the year, continues to guide our shared expectations and aspirations: that every student is known, supported and challenged to take their next best step.
One of the most profound expressions of this Mercy-inspired faith will be our upcoming dramatisation of the Stations of the Cross. This sacred tradition offers our College community a powerful opportunity to be immersed in the story of Christ’s passion. We walk with Him on the journey that reveals the depth of His love for humanity. Through prayer, reflection and performance, our students will not only retell the story of Jesus giving His life for us, but will be invited to encounter its meaning in a deeply personal way. Moments such as these underscore the privilege and responsibility of our Catholic community. We aim to inspire young people to come to know a God who loves them unconditionally.
During the Easter season the Church invites us into the central mystery of our faith; the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is not simply an event remembered; it is a living promise that God brings new life out of suffering, light out of darkness, and hope out of despair. In Catholic education, Easter shapes our understanding of meaning and purpose. It reminds us that education is not only about achievement, but about formation. We form young people who can live with resilience, hope and a profound sense of purpose grounded in Christ.
The Easter season speaks directly to why Catholic schools exist. We educate to transform lives; we teach to awaken hope; we accompany young people so they may recognise their dignity and their call to serve others. Just as the Resurrection sends the disciples forth renewed and courageous, Holy Cross College intends to send our students into the world equipped to contribute, to love generously and to work for justice. This is the Gospel lived out in classrooms, playgrounds and community.
I wish all our families and staff a restful, safe and holy Easter. May this season be a time of renewal, joy and peace for your households. Thank you for the trust you place in Holy Cross College and for the partnership we share in educating your children.
We look forward to welcoming all our families back for Term Two, refreshed and ready to continue our journey together guided by our LIFE pillars, and in 2026, inspired by Ursula Frayne and the Sisters of Mercy.
Happy Easter!
